Vocal Rest Records was founded by Trey Burnart Hall after sustaining a traumatic singing injury that developed into a vocal disability. Though Trey lost his ability to sing and has limited vocality, he gained insights into the impact of listening. Vocal Rest Records intends to promote songwriters who tell lyrical and image filled stories and hopes to foster community through roots-based music.

Each Vocal Rest artist pulls from the vast past of country, blues, bluegrass, and folk music, but moves the genres into a more modern lens. The current roster includes Cassidy Snider & the Wranglers, The Great Beforetimes, Mackenzie Roark, Tess Fisher, Brady Heck, Chuck Jones, Ward Harrison, and Devil's Coattails. Justin Golden released his EP, “Idle Hands,” on Vocal Rest Records before releasing his full length, “Hard Times and a Woman,” in collaboration with Free Dirt Records. The late, great Bernie Yodelin’ Hall released his debut album, “Blue Ridge Mountain Yodel,” at the age of 72 before his untimely passing in 2022.

Vocal Rest Records is currently working on full length records for Mackenzie Roark, Cassidy Snider & the Wranglers, and Ward Harrison. Singles are in production for Tess Fisher and Brady Heck. Stay tuned as the VRR catalog continues to grow!
